A constant theme throughout my life has been a love affair with business and music. I feel fortunate to have built a highly successful career around my two passions. For over 40 years I have been growing my own businesses and helping others grow theirs.

I opened a small record store when I was 26 with money I borrowed from the bank and my dad, and over the next 30 years I built one of the largest wholesalers of prerecorded music in the world. My company grew to be a multi-national organization employing over 3,000 people. When Amazon, one of my largest customers, decided to diversify from books and start selling pre-recorded music, they came to me and I was their sole supplier for many years. Once my wholesale music business reached $1 Billion dollars in sales, I decided to take my company public. My company had its initial public offering in April of 1999. Shortly after, I stepped away and began to pursue my passion of working with entrepreneurs and small business owners.

Through my experiences, I have learned that doing some basic things right can make a huge difference in the success of any business. I started a business consulting company, RunMyBusinessBetter.com, that shares my common sense approach to starting, growing, and running businesses. I specialize in helping businesses kickstart and manage their growth so they can take their business to the next level.

I have an undergraduate degree from Antioch College in Yellow Springs, Ohio and an Executive MBA from Harvard University. I was also the past president of the National Association of Recording Merchandisers (NARM).

I am from Kansas City, Missouri and now live in Seattle, Washington. I am married and have two children and two grandchildren.
